Literacy:
We will be finishing the letter “Ss” and moving on to the letter “Ll”. Lily is the Superkid that loves lions.

Math:
We will continue working on number recognition this week to 100.

Theme Study:
We will continue talking about the fairy tale The Princess and the Pea. The queen in the story believed that if the young lady who came to the castle could feel the pea under 20 mattresses and 20 feather beds she was a real princess. We are going to talk about our  5 senses and determine whether or not she could have really felt the pea.

This week’s news:
I was researching some ideas for future topics when I came across some parent articles that I thought might interest you. I will be sending one home each week with the newsletter. I hope you find them as interesting and helpful as I did.
We will have a Superkid assessment coming up next week.
Christmas Service parts will be going home next week. Please beginning helping your child learn his/her portions of the service. If you have any questions please let me know.

This week’s news:
Thank you parents for meeting with me. It was great to touch base and share your child’s progress with you.
We will be completing the MAP tests next week. Please make sure that your child gets adequate rest and a good breakfast because we will be testing in the morning.
Thursday November 5 we will be going to West Lutheran High School for their Children’s Theater production of Hansel and Gretel. This will fit in so well with our classroom theme this year. I’m excited to find out what the students will think.

We will be working on some pumpkin projects. Hopefully they will be finished in time for the Fall Festival.

This week’s news:
With the weather getting colder please remember to send a coat with your child everyday. Mornings are quite chilly.
With the school student council elections tomorrow we talked about what an election is and how to vote. This is a tough concept for children of this age so don’t be surprised if you are asked a lot of questions.
First quarter progress reports will be sent home next week. Please remember to sign up for a conference so I can share how your child is progressing.

We will talk about different ways to use a pumpkin.

This week’s news:
I am so happy to see that the students have been checking out so many books! We might have to highest totals ever at this rate. Check out the book fair for great books to add to your personal library.
We have been reading several versions of Cinderella and comparing and contrasting them. After reading the stories the students decided that they wanted to work on a little play based on the fairytale. I can’t wait to see what they come up with. I have a very creative bunch this year.
